Human depravity: conscious versus subconscious?

Don't hold your breath, man. There's very little hope that humans stand a chance against their biggest enemy: each other. In my opinion, most of what we do happens on a subconscious level. We are not truly authors of all of our actions and therefore not entirely responsible. It's Nature's supreme joke. There's not much we can do about it. We are programmed for self-destruction.
